Support Gemini Earn (staking) via API
planned
Ash
Users Experience:
- CoinTracker users currently cannot sync transactions from Gemini Earn/staking transactions via the existing Gemini exchange API integration.
Expected behavior:
- CoinTracker should fully support Gemini Earn, including automatic syncing of transactions directly through API integration, similar to how other Gemini transactions are currently handled.
As a user, what should I do?
For the time being, you can add Gemini Earn transactions using the generic CSV import method. After importing, manually associate these transactions with your Gemini exchange wallet on CoinTracker to ensure they are correctly tracked.
How can users provide feedback?
You can upvote this forum post to indicate you are experiencing this behavior. The post status will be changed to
Complete
once full support for Gemini Earn is rolled out, and you will be notified of the status change.I need additional assistance, who can I contact?

I would be thrilled to get this feature over the hump. I still have an unresolved issue around 2022 which prevents me from getting my taxes done. Please, please prioritize this one :-) Thank you!

I'm not able to import the grow transactions into an API linked wallet. This import screen is also not accepting a csv formatted to cointrackers specs.

Hi team,
I am facing errors when trying to import my Gemini earn transactions, which is causing a ’insufficient balance’ error message for a significant amount. This is resulting my cost basis being reported as zero. Given this is prime tax season, I need support on this issue and not a cookie cutter response.
When importing the Gemini Earn XSLX per the UI instruction, I get a nondescript error “file import failed". When I try to manually import the CSV format of the interest payments, I get told by the UI to instead import the XSLX ("File import failed. Supported formats are: .xlsx, .xlsm, .xltx, .xltm”). I am unsure how to reconcile this loop.
Not to be that guy, but I have spent thousands of dollars over the years using CoinTracker and I need (and a lot of customers need) support on this as soon as possible. There is clearly a bug with this specific exchange sync. This support page for Gemini Earn issue states we need to tweet Gemini for API support. Gemini has tweeted that they have. The issue has been sitting here for approximately ~3 years with no resolution. As stated above, when trying to self-serve the problem via file import, the file import also doesn’t work. When looking on Twitter, your competition is commenting on users’ request for the feature to try another tool.
Could you please escalate this issue and advise on the bug fix?

its now November 2022...any progress on adding Gemini Earn support so that we don't have to use clunky csv imports? seems like a pretty essential feature.

Gemini has added an Earn feature to get interest for locked assets. Unfortunately, their API and CSV exports do not support showing these balances & transactions. If you'd like to see this added, please let Gemini know on Twitter.

Cointracker needs to properly handle Gemini Earn, including tax on interest.
For API info, see https://docs.gemini.com/rest-api/#gemini-earn.
Please note that Gemini also provides users with the ability to download two CSVs, one for exchange transaction history and another for earn transaction history.
For a case study on syncing with Gemini Earn, see Taxbit, which is able to identify transfers between Gemini and Gemini Earn, as well as (daily) interest by coin, with proper tagging for both transactions (transfer, income). Other solutions also provide automated syncing, such as ZenLedger.
This issue needs to be resolved in order for CoinTracker users with Gemini accounts to properly report taxes to the IRS.
Requested solution: automated syncing via API.
Alternative solution: allow users to upload the Gemini Exchange and Earn Transaction CSVs to CoinTracker without having the user manually edit either CSV.
PS A note regarding the original poster's comment: Sending tweets to Gemini for a solution they already implemented is not helpful, so don't do it. CoinTracker simply needs to update their Gemini integration to access the Gemini Earn transactions already made available by Gemini.
